In this work, we explore how to optimize the placement of servers and distribution points while incorporating preferences in continuous location problems. In many real-world scenarios, demand does not come from specific points but from entire regions within a given space. Our approach relies on mathematical optimization techniques to model these problems and analyze the impact of incorporating preferences into this decision-making process. We focus on a specific case where a central server must be placed along with several distribution points within different demand regions. Additionally, we share insights from an extensive set of experiments that illustrate why considering preferences is crucial for effectively solving real-world location problems.
